Anniversary Celebration

On November 7 and 8, 2009 the first fifty years of Yellowknife United Church was celebrated in grand style.

The dinner on Saturday night was well attended by over one hundred guests. We were pleased to welcome back a number of former congregation members as well as the Rev. Dr. Bob Thomson and his wife Joyce. Bob was the third minister to serve the congregation. Entertainment, ably emceed by Elaine Stewart featured a number of speeches, as well as musical entertainment and a slide show.

There was a special anniversary worship service on Sunday, November 8 with guest speaker Nora Sanders, General Secretary of the United Church of Canada and a former member of our congregation was well attended and was followed by a luncheon, giving people a chance to do some more reminiscing and to renew old acquaintances and begin new friendships.
